Top athletes help young disabled to take up sport
Oakwood
The youngsters had the opportunity to try out various sports
With the Olympic Games drawing to a close in Sydney, at Oakwood Park in Pembrokeshire some of Britain's top disabled athletes were helping to persuade young disabled people to take up sport.

Next month sees the start of the Paralympics - the pinnacle of disabled sport and some of the athletes who'll be competing in those games were in Pembrokeshire at Wales's first disability sportsday to help develop the grassroots of the sport.

There were all types of sports on offer, but no prises for guessing which proved the most popular. Rugby of course.

Opportunities

Development officers across Wales helped create more opportunities for disabled people to enjoy sport and also keep an eye out for future talent.

And with more events planned across Wales, disabled sport in Wales is looking in excellent shape.

The Paralympics have yet to start, but some of Britains top disabled athletes had an early visit to the Olympic stadium in Sydney on Thursday with Wales' Tanni Grey-Thompson finishing fourth in the exhibition 800 metre wheelchair race.
