John Redwood MP: Upset community

Seven years ago, a pointed attack on single mothers from the area by Welsh Secretary John Redwood provoked the community into action.

The St Mellons Community Forum succeeded in attracting funding to run initiatives aimed at helping everyone in the community.

Studies have shown that nutritional standards in the area are poor, with high levels of smoking and alcohol consumption.

So priority will be given to educating school children and young families about healthy eating.

There will also be a play strategy and the broad aim of the project is to widen horizons, as well as improving the environment that people live in.
