Overnight rainfall brought flooding, including here at Llanrwst in Conwy
Sixteen flood warnings are in place throughout Wales with more wind and rain forecast overnight.
Dozens of roads remain closed as rivers burst their banks, and already saturated land turned into lakes.
In Gwynedd emergency services rescued trapped motorists, and in Conwy the fire service located a man, believed to be homeless, stranded by shallow water.
Traffic link Wales is still reporting 22 roads either closed, or open with restrictions across Wales.
The road closures, or restrictions, were due to both flooding and high, gusting, winds.
Drivers faced a long diversion due to flooding on the A487 Dyfi bridge at Machynlleth, Powys.
Particularly badly affected was Bala, Trawsfynydd and Dolgellau areas of Gwynedd, with dozens of roads closed.
The main A470 artery north to south was "just passable" at Betws-y-Coed, Conwy and at Llanelltyd, Gwynedd.
Conwy council's Flood Control Room was activated because of the problems there.
A council spokeswoman said: "The council's environment and highways teams are responding to problems across the county."
