Cyber wedding makes history
Couple take their vows
A webcam captures the couple taking their vows
A couple from Wales have made history by marrying live on the internet.

Jane Gruffydd and Bleddyn Edwards's "cyber ceremony" - reported to be the first of its kind in the UK - was conducted at Cardiff Register Office and beamed around the world via a webcam.

The camera showed the wedding, signing of the register and celebrations afterwards in pictures that were updated every 30 seconds.

But viewers could not actually hear the ceremony as there was no sound.

The 27-year-old bride first came to the attention of the British public when she became the resident mother-to-be on the Radio 1 Zoe Ball Breakfast Show.

Her pregnancy was followed by millions of listeners who learned of the arrival of the couple's baby Gruffydd, now eight months old.

And on her latest venture, she said: "Bleddyn and I find it absolutely amazing that our big day was beamed around the world on the internet.

"It's great that technology can enable something like this to happen, and we are delighted to be part of it."

The idea to beam the wedding out live came from delivery driver Rick Love, who works for supermarket chain Iceland.

For the last three weeks he has been touring the UK with a webcam to demonstrate the supermarket's internet home shopping service.

He thought it would be great to beam the wedding out live when he realised it coincided with his visit to Cardiff.
