Revellers will be handed condoms in the goodie bags |
Goodie bags containing flip flops, condoms and personal attack alarms are being handed to revellers leaving pubs and clubs in a north Wales town. The bags are being handed out in Llandudno by the Conwy Community Safety Partnership as part of a Christmas safety campaign.
As part of the scheme, 7,000 plastic glasses have been given out to pubs in the area to reduce glassing injuries.
The flip flops are included for women walking home in their bare feet.
The safety partnership claim there has been an increase in the number of women attending A&E during the Christmas period because they have walked home after a night out with nothing on their feet.
The goodie bag will also contain bottled water, a lollipop and stubbies, which are pouches that smokers can use to stub out their cigarettes safely.

North Wales Police supt Terry Kellaher, who is part of the partnership, said high visibility patrols would also be conducted outside pubs, clubs and take away outlets.
"This campaign has been designed to ensure people feel safe whilst enjoying a night out and to also get the message across that violence, aggression and disorderly behaviour will not be tolerated," he said.
Special posters, which depict issues including violent crime, domestic violence, drug abuse and binge drinking have also been produced and placed in public premises such as libraries, schools, and GP surgeries.
The partnership said there was a 9% reduction in crime across Conwy during the Christmas period last year compared with the same period in 2005.
Levels of criminal damage were down by 25% and serious violent crimes saw a fall of 43%.
