Six buffalo will be released at the park

The Water Buffalo are being loaned to the park. They usually live at a farm in Whitland.

Their arrival was cancelled last weekend due to the cold weather.

The animals are more commonly seen in the marshy habitats of the Indian sub-continent and Africa.

The Welsh Wildlife Centre is run by the Wildlife Trust West Wales.

Threatened habitats

Founded in 1938, the trust is the second oldest wildlife trust in the UK, with over 66 reserves under its protection.

Its conservation work extends the length and breadth of Dyfed and the surrounding seas, caring for a variety of plants and animals including the dolphins, puffins, badgers, seals, otters, dormice, owls, butterflies, wild flowers and reptiles.

Meadows, woodlands, bogs, islands (including St Margarets and Cardigan Island), reed beds, lakes and clifftops are some of the threatened habitats already protected by the Wildlife Trust West Wales.

It is actively campaigning to secure marine protected areas.
