Glyn's A level results means he can study at Bangor university

Glyn, 18, was awarded an A grade in art and design but only E grades in Welsh and English because he missed the exams when he became a contestant in May.

A show spokeswoman said they would tell Glyn his results on Thursday night before the housemate's final party.

The ex-head boy plans to become a Welsh teacher and will study education.

Glyn also passed his history AS level with a B grade.

His head teacher at Dyffryn Conwy School in Llanrwst Ifor Efans said: "Glyn has done really well and gained well above the Ucas points that he required to go to Bangor to study to become a teacher of Welsh."

The Welsh-speaker could begin studying for his degree at Bangor in September.

Earlier Glyn, from Blaenau Ffestiniog, completed a task to write his autobiography, looking ahead 10 years from now. He revealed his ambitions were to study for an education degree and become Plaid Cymru's first prime minister.

Carys Roberts, head of student recruitment at Bangor University, said officials were delighted Glyn had achieved a place to study for a BA (hons) in education.

"We're pleased to see that he has decided to make the most of the opportunities available at Bangor by choosing a course here," she said.

"On top of his academic achievements, he has a wealth of experience in community and voluntary work."

Glyn, who entered the house wearing a lifeguard outfit, already has nine A and A* GCSEs, and has been prominent in promoting Welsh on the show, with fellow Welsh-speaker Imogen Thomas, who was evicted last Friday.

He had to translate for his housemates on Wednesday when the voice of Big Brother spoke only in Welsh.

Fellow favourite Pete made up his own language when faced with questions from the Welsh-speaking male Big Brother voice in the diary room.

His girlfriend Nikki however was not so amused when her pleas to switch off the air conditioning in the bedroom were met by a response in Welsh.

She called a giggling Glyn into the diary room to translate Big Brother's standard response: "Your request has been noted."

A spokeswoman for the show said the Welsh-speaking Big Brother was "just a bit of fun".

"It was only for a short time on Wednesday and was a bit of fun for Glyn," she said.

"It was quite funny for the other housemates too."

Glyn is currently third favourite of the six remaining housemates to win Friday's final vote, behind housemates Pete and Aisleyne, with odds of 10/1.
