The Crown Prosecution Service re-examined the accident on the training ranges at Sennybridge in Powys after an internal army investigation came up with new evidence, but has decided not to prosecute. Richard King's family is now taking civil action to try to find out what went wrong. It is almost two years since Grenadier Guardsman Richard King, 22, was killed when live bullets were accidentally fired during a mock battle. Major investigation The CPS decided not to prosecute following a major investigation by Dyfed Powys police. Later an inquest failed to establish why army procedures had failed and the Health and Safety Executive demanded improvements. In July the CPS re-examined the case following an army investigation. But it has now concluded there is still no evidence to support any prosecution. Mr King's sister Elizabeth Bull says they still do not know what went wrong. The family's solicitor will now start civil proceedings. |
