The future of a mountain top building criticised by the Prince of Wales as "the highest slum in Britain" is under review.
The cafe on Snowdon came under fire from Prince Charles for its unattractive appearance and has been criticised for letting down the natural scenery. Some 250,000 visitors trek up the face of Snowdon to encounter the cafe building, which is more than 60 years old.

Now planners in north Wales are seeking to revamp the building with the help of European aid. Renovation plans were drawn up three years ago but shelved when Millennium Lottery funding could not be secured.
Other plans, though, have been devised and a meeting of the Snowdonia National Park Authority on Wednesay is due to discuss a fresh option.
It is hoped that a joint bid for the village of Llanberis and the renovation to the cafe could secure the European funding.
