Last round in fight to remember boxer
A sculpture will commemorate boxing hero Eddie Thomas
The long-running dispute over where to place a life-size bronze statue, commemorating the life of boxer Eddie Thomas has ended.
The statue, created after money poured in from all over the world following his death, has remained in storage because a memorial committee and Merthyr council could not agree on a suitable site.
It will now be placed in a memorial garden near the town centre.

From his humble beginnings as a miner, Eddie Thomas rose to become British, Empire and European champion. In April 1992 he received the Freedom of Merthyr.
After his death almost two years ago, it took just seven months to raise the �30,000 needed to create the statue in his memory.
