Family tribute to bus crash girl
Jasmine Allen
Jasmine's parents said there could see no reason in her death
The family of a 12-year-old girl who died when the minibus she was travelling in crashed have described her as the "love of our life".

Jasmine Allen was on her way to Newbridge Comprehensive School, south Wales, on Monday when the vehicle was in collision with a car and overturned.

The minibus driver was arrested on Monday and questioned by police before being released on Tuesday.

A second man held in relation to the crash has been released on police bail.

Jasmine's parents said in a statement: "Jasmine was the love of our life, was taken from us tragically, and for this we can see no reason.

"We hope the great love we have for her may help to mask a small part of the horrific pain of her loss - pain to us, her parents, her brother Karl and sister Paige and all the family."

Minibus crash at Crumlin, south Wales
Ten children were travelling in the bus when it overturned

Nine other children and a female escort had also been aboard the bus and received treatment for shock and injuries.

Seven children have been released from hospital, one girl has been moved to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff with a head injury, and one boy remains in Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny with a fractured pelvis.

The female driver of the car has been released from hospital after treatment for minor injuries.

The collision happened at around 0830 BST on Monday, just a few miles from the school on the steep hill leading down to Crumlin from Pontypool.

The white vehicle - run by local firm A1 Minibus Hire - ended up on its roof after hitting a blue Skoda coming in the opposite direction.

A spokesman for the minibus firm refused to comment but confirmed the vehicle was fitted with seatbelts.

The accident happened near Jasmine's home in Hafodyrynys. Three bunches of flowers were left at the scene, including one from her brother Karl.

Any witnesses to the incident are urged to contact Gwent Police on 01633 838111 or the Collision Investigation Unit on 01633 643091.
