The family of a man killed in a collision with a bus in Cardiff city centre have paid tribute to their "immensely popular" son. Daniel Richard Thorne, 25, from Chepstow, died at the scene of the incident at the junction of St Mary Street and Wood Street late on Friday.
Mr Thorne, a surveyor, was described as a "devoted" rugby fan who also played for his home town club, Chepstow RFC.
Police have appealed for anyone who saw the collision to come forward.
'Rugby fan'
Mr Thorne's parents Judith and Richard and his sister Rachael said in a statement: "Daniel was a much loved son, brother and grandson, and was immensely popular with family and friends.
"He was a devoted rugby fan and player which was a major part of his life.
"We were extremely proud of what Dan achieved in his short life.
"He will always live on in our hearts. Goodbye 'Little man'."
Mr Thorne was a former pupil at Chepstow Comprehensive School who went on to study at the University of Glamorgan.
He was employed by Hanson Aggregates as a planning surveyor.
Inquiry continues
Cardiff Bus has offered "sincere condolences" to Mr Thorne's family.
The bus driver involved in the collision has been offered counselling.
The number 49 bus service was within yards of Cardiff's central bus station when the incident happened.
A spokesperson for Cardiff Bus said the company was co-operating fully with the police in their investigations.
Cardiff city centre was busy at the time of the accident, with thousands of people in the city for the Wales-Fiji rugby international.
South Wales Police have asked anyone who saw the collision outside the Prince of Wales pub, or anyone who was in the area at the time, to contact them on 029 20527226 or 029 2022 2111.
