Binge drink films sent to mobiles
Mobile phone keypad
The films can be downloaded to mobiles
Films made as part of a BBC Wales campaign to encourage sensible drinking habits are being offered as mobile phone downloads.

The four films - two of which are animated - can be viewed on video enabled mobile phones.

The films are designed to encourage people to think about the benefits of sensible drinking.

It is the first time the BBC has supported a social action campaign with films offered on mobiles.

Its aims are to provide access to the information on the campaign at any time of the day or night

The animations are just one minute long, with the two videos being 20 and 10 seconds each. Three of them have been made by members of the public.

Users can access the films by texting RSOD to 81010. From there they will be directed to a site where the film can be downloaded.

A spokesperson for the BBC said: "This is the first time the BBC has ever used a service like this for a campaign.

"Its aims are to provide access to the information on the campaign at any time of the day or night, never mind where the person is located.

"If they are not at home and can't watch the television there is a way of getting information about the campaign on their mobiles."

Key points for safer drinking
Eat before or while you drink
Pace yourself - resist beer pressure
Don't mix your drinks
Drink water or use soft drink spacers
Look out for your friends

One of films available is called Don't be an RSOD (Risky Single Occasion Drinker), with the message not to over consume alcohol.

Another, called The Big Bang!, carries the message that one pint of lager has the same number of calories as a bar of chocolate.

Another of the films available for download is called Binge Drinking and was shot entirely on a mobile phone - it reveals that young British women drink more alcohol than women anywhere else in western Europe.

The final film is called Punch Drunk which shows that it is not just binge drinkers who turn aggressive when drunk.

The aim of the week-long campaign is to highlight the benefits of sensible drinking and to make the culture of binge drinking seem unfashionable.

To access the films via your mobile phone, text the word RSOD to 81010. Network charges may apply.
