Holly House is a residential home near Blackwood |
A Labour MP has called for a Caerphilly care home to be closed following what he has described as a "truly appalling" level of care. In the House of Commons, Wayne David said elderly people at Holly House care home, in Fleur-de-Lis near Blackwood, should be looked after elsewhere.
He demanded that the situation at the home "must never ever happen again".
The home's owner said residents there thought it was "an excellent place".
Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, Mr David said: "Some of the most vulnerable and frail people in our society have been subjected to a degree of abuse and a lack of care which is truly appalling."
Dr Das said Mr David should have discussed his complaints |
"This nursing home should be closed and the elderly people at the home should be looked after elsewhere with the care and compassion which they deserve.
"We must also make sure that what has happened at Holly House must never ever happen again."
Dr Prana Das, who owns Holly House, told BBC Wales he was "sad" at Mr David's comments.
"If he had any complaint, he should have talked to me and discussed it with me rather than going to Parliament. He did not give me any opportunity," he said.
"What is his problem? The people who go to live there think Holly House is an excellent place and a safe place."
