Driving ban for Church's man
Kyle Johnson
Kyle Johnson was banned for two months by magistrates
The boyfriend of singer Charlotte Church has been banned from driving for two motoring offences.

Kyle Johnson, 19, was fined 200, told to pay 50 costs and disqualified for two months by Cardiff magistrates.

He was convicted in his absence in August of driving without insurance and failing to produce a driving licence.

Johnson, of Cardiff, who has not passed his test, was stopped behind the wheel of a car borrowed from a friend.

Magistrates were told that last January Pc Andy Williams stopped Johnson as he drove along Cambria Road, Ely, Cardiff, in a Citron Saxo.

If you fail to pay you could be brought back before the court and be fined or be given a prison term
Magistrate Sian Davies

Lisa Bennett, prosecuting, said: "Pc Williams stopped a vehicle at 9.30pm. Johnson was asked to produce documents but failed to do so."

The court heard that Johnson, who had recently returned from a holiday with Ms Church, earns about 80-a-week as a part-time events organiser for the Copthorne Hotel in Cardiff.

Unpaid fines

His solicitor Mike Jones told the court that his client had a disposable income of around 20 per month.

He said: "He has been trained for a further position which means he would need to be mobile.

"He intends to take driving lessons and obtain a full licence. If he was disqualified that would preclude the opportunity for a new job."

Johnson, of Ely, was also told to pay an extra 65 unpaid fines from previous appearances.

He was told to pay off the total of 315 at the rate of 40-a-month.

Magistrates' chairwoman Sian Davies told him: "If you fail to pay you could be brought back before the court and be fined or be given a prison term."
