Family rescued from sinking boat
The rescue operation
An inquiry is underway into why the boat began to leak
A family had to be rescued on Sunday after the boat they were in began to sink in Holyhead harbour.

The town's RNLI lifeboat was launched to rescue the mother and her two children just after 1400BST.

The passengers where taken off the 23ft cruiser, called Mrs Doubtfire, when it began taking in water.

Members of the Holyhead Sailing Club also tried to help the family.

An RNLI spokesman said the Holyhead all weather lifeboat used a pump on the boat.

But despite efforts to pump the water out, the boat was still taking in water and the owner was forced to beach it near the harbour.

An inquiry is underway into why the boat began to leak.
