Sam Hammam owned Wimbledon FC before Cardiff City

A case against him was adjourned by Rhondda magistrates as he plans to dispute earlier speeding convictions.

Mr Hammam, aged 56, was caught on camera driving at more than 70 mph on the M4 at Miskin, near Llantrisant.

The court heard he already had nine points on his licence and the case was adjourned to 1 April.

He was caught on 22 November last year and has pleaded pleaded guilty by post.

Mr Hammam, who gave a London address, was due to appear before the court to hear his sentence.

District judge Vivien Manning-Davies was told Mr Hammam was disputing some of the previous convictions and hoped to avoid a driving ban.

The former Wimbledon FC owner was driving his Audi with a personalised registration number at the time of the offence.

He took over Cardiff City in August 2000 and has seen the club rise from the third division to the first.
