Producer Jerry Weintraub, who produced Ocean's Eleven, said: "Now I have two of the most beautiful women in the world in this picture.
"I think this is my crowning achievement. I've been wanting to work with her (Zeta Jones) and we had this wonderful role for a woman and it's hard to find someone of that stature, an Oscar winner."
Zeta Jones won an Oscar in 2003 for her role as glamorous singing murderess Zelma Kelly in the film Chicago.
She is also due to present an award at this year's ceremony.
Zeta Jones' role in Ocean's Twelve will be the second time she has starred alongside George Clooney.
Last year, the duo played romantic sparring partners in the Coen brothers film Intolerable Cruelty.
