Aled Williams, centre, saw Wales' defeat at first hand |
After travelling to cheer on the Welsh team against Serbia in a crucial qualifier for Euro 2004, fans pass on their thoughts following the narrow 1-0 defeat. Wales still have a two-point lead in the group as they aim to reach the championships next summer, but must now take on Italy away in September.
"We have become a very expectant set of fans and losing was very disappointing. It wasn't an entertaining match to watch but we could have held on for a draw.
We didn't give the Serbs many chances and Gabbidon had a brilliant game in defence. This puts added pressure on the Milan match. Avoiding defeat against Italy is now even more important."

Although Serbia-Montenegro seemed to rule a lot of the game, the Welsh certainly deserved a draw from that performance.
With no disrespect to Nathan Blake, the game showed how much of a pivotal figure John Hartson has become for the side. Here's hoping that he is fit and raring to go in Milan come September."

The introduction of Rob Earnshaw could not save Wales |
"A disappointing result after so much anticipation since our last qualifier. However, the result was justified after some notable poor performances by key players.
It was great to see so many fans there supporting the cause and now we must try and get a result in Milan with the backing of 8,000 supporters."
Ian Lewis-Jones, teacher from St. Asaph
"It was disappointing that the Welsh were unable to adapt their play to the evolving game, but considering this was an early game in the season, and that Blake, unfortunately, was no substitute for Hartson - a fair result.
The racial abuse endured by Earnshaw, Gabbidon and Blake only served to shame the hosts, and enrage the Welsh fans. I truly hope Fifa will show how unacceptable such behaviour is."
