A 14-year-old boy had a lucky escape after he tumbled 130ft down a steep scree slope in Snowdonia.The teenager was treated for bruising, back pain, and a head injury after the fall on Wednesday night.
A Sea King helicopter from RAF Valley on Anglesey was buffeted by fierce winds during a four-hour rescue operation on the south side of 3,000ft Tryfan.
The boy had been accompanying a father and son. It is believed he tripped and fell 2,500ft up the peak.
The alarm was raised using a mobile phone and the party's location was identified by Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team - who were completing their 50th rescue of the year.
The rescue involved 22 members of the team and the boy was carried on a stretcher down the mountain to where turbulence was less severe.
He was then winched aboard the helicopter and taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor.
