Catherine Zeta Jones and husband Michael Douglas have hit the headlines over photographs again - but this time because they have been showing off snapshots of their new baby, Carys.

The couple - who fought a long-running court battle with Hello! magazine over unauthorised pictures of their wedding - happily displayed black and white shots of their second child when they attended the Hollywood premiere of Douglas' new film, The In-Laws.

Later the 58-year-old proud father showed the snaps again when he appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno before millions of American viewers.

The display of openness by Hollywood's most glamorous couple was in stark contrast to their behaviour towards the media in recent months.

Until the baby photos were unveiled on Tuesday, the only picture of one-month-old Carys had been a snatched shot published in the magazine.

A photographer used a long lens to snap the child asleep in her mother's arms and published the picture on its cover.

The actors have become well-known for being fiercely protective of their privacy in recent years - despite signing a �1m deal which gave OK! magazine the exclusive rights to photograph their wedding.

Following their successful lawsuit against Hello! over the unauthorised shots taken at the reception, Zeta Jones found herself in another legal tussle earlier this month, over photographs of her topless taken while she was pregnant.

She and Douglas consulted their lawyers about pictures on an American broadcaster's website which appeared to show the 33-year-old actress shortly before she gave birth in April.

One of the photographs published by the US radio operator Clear Channel Worldwide apparently showed the Oscar-winning actress smoking a cigarette.

The couple accused the firm of "continued malicious conduct" for allowing the photos to be posted on its internet site, thesmokinggun.com

A three-page letter from their lawyers to Clear Channel, claimed the shots were "surreptitiously taken" while the star was relaxing on a private estate in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The lawyers' letter claimed the pictures were an invasion of the stars' privacy and warned the couple could be awarded "substantial" damages.
