The sunny weather brings more climbers to Snowdonia
A woman climber has been saved in a dramatic rescue after falling from a crag in Snowdonia.

The woman, who is local and in her twenties, was with a climbing instructor at a mountainside above Llanberis Pass when she fell onto a ledge on Monday afternoon.

She plunged 50 feet in her climbing harness while negotiating a climb known as the Spiral Stairs at Dinas Cromlech.

The woman's instructor raised the alarm then climbed down to the ledge where he gave her first aid treatment until the rescue helicopter arrived.

An RAF Sea King helicopter based at Valley on Anglesey was scrambled at about 1330 GMT.

A trained paramedic was winched down from the helicopter onto the ledge.

The woman was later taken on board and flown to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor suffering from a bruised back.

The rescue operation was coordinated by North Wales Police.
