Cerys remain true to her west Wales roots |
Speculation and gossip are rife in the small west Wales community of Trefin where the wedding of Cerys Matthews and Seth Riddle takes place this weekend. Rumours include the 33-year-old singer turning up to her chapel wedding in Pembrokeshire on a tractor and that Catherine Zeta Jones will be among the guests.
A traditional farmers' pitch-fork guard of honour to greet the couple as they walk out of the chapel is also being talked about.
And Tom Jones, fresh from his Brit Lifetime Achievement accolade, is also expected to join in the celebrations.
The marriage to the Nashville record producer is set for 1400 GMT on Saturday and the venue is the small Congregationalist Reheboth Chapel near the Matthews's family home.
"We don't really know anything, we were told she was looking for a farm vehicle but we don't know if people are really making fun of it," said villager Peggy James," she said.
"It's gossip really, village gossip."
If she wanted a big wedding she could have had it abroad, she wants to be surrounded by her family and friends |
Mrs James said she heard the theme of the wedding, rumoured to be at Reheboth Chapel near Trefin, will have a 1930s theme.
She added that many brides-to-be liked to arrive in style in a pony and trap and that Cerys' father owns a trap.
Minister Geoffrey Eynon, who refused to be drawn on whether he was officiating, said he was not surprised Cerys had chosen Trefin as her wedding setting.
"It is because of her connections with Pembrokeshire," he said.
"Her parents live here, she is a home bird.
"If she wanted a big wedding she could have had it abroad, she wants to be surrounded by her family and friends," he said.

Another source has said some wedding guests are staying at the Trevaccoon Country House near St David's. Pictures will be taken at the House which is run by Caroline Flynn, the wife of the late actor Eric Flynn.
Son Jerome Flynn is well-known for his acting role in Soldier Soldier and being the other singing half of Robson and Jerome.
As for the theme of the wedding or colour of the flowers, local businesses were remaining tight-lipped.
"The pitch fork guard of honour is very much a young farmers' thing," said Dill Williams, county organiser at the Pembrokeshire Young Farmers.
"It has been going for years, I had it at my wedding," she said.
"Usually there's four to eight pitch forks and the farmers wear white coats.
"We don't have too many brides on farm vehicles but once I know of one who went to chapel on a JCB," she added.
