Meat is one option for Farmhouse Breakfast Week
A south Wales woman has won the title of Most Cheerful Butcher in Wales by keeping her customers happy every day.

Cheryl Willis works in the family firm Willis Butchers in Cwmbran and gained the award with the support of regulars at the shop.

The "Chopstars" contest was organised as part of Farmhouse Breakfast Week which begins on Sunday.

Events will be taking place across Wales and beyond to promote regional products as breakfast foods.

Mrs Willis attributed her success to cheery banter and dedicated service.

"A happy customer is a regular customer," she explained.

"I like to make sure they always leave the shop with a smile on their face.

"I love my customers and my colleagues and I get up every morning looking forward to going to work."

As part of Farmhouse Breakfast Week, there will be a True Taste roadshow travelling around Wales, organised by the Welsh Development Agency, which is backing the week.

Airport

As well as trying a range of breakfasts and brunches, visitors will have the chance to win a Welsh Experience hospitality package to the Wales v England rugby match.

A kitchen will also be operating at Cardiff Airport arrivals lounge where travellers will be offered samples of Welsh produce.

In Pembrokeshire, secondary schools will offer their 8,500 pupils a healthy brunch throughout the week.

Much of the food is to be sourced from local producers.

Staff at County Hall in Cwmbran will also get the chance to try a taste of Welsh farmhouse breakfasts through the week.

And the National Farmers Union Cymru/Wales will release the results of a survey on the breakfast eating habits of primary school children during the week.
