| Saturday, 9 November, 2002, 17:32 GMT Falklands vets remember fallen ![]() BBC Wales Correspondent Gail Foley sets off with 200 Falklands' veterans on an important journey to attend Remembrance Day services on the islands. Welsh veterans attending the Falklands War 20th anniversary have taken part in an emotional remembrance service for their fallen comrades. The ceremony at the San Carlos war cemetery was attended by dozens of ex-servicemen who took part in the battles to re-capture the islands from Argentina in 1982.
More than 250 British soldiers lost their lives in the campaign. David Morgan, from Oakdale, who was a sailor on HMS Avenger, told BBC Wales that being at the service had been a difficult experience. "It is very hard, the fact that my emotions came to the surface," he said. "I could not enter the main area where everybody was. I cannot really describe how I felt. "I was very, very nervous and upset and my emotions got the best of me. "For the better part of the service, I sat there crying." Mr Morgan was treated after the war for post traumatic stress disorder, along with many of his colleagues present at the service on Friday.
"The only difference is you are on ground where your fallen comrades are buried and there are cenotaphs dedicated to them round the islands." The ceremony at San Carlos was part of a series of events leading up to Remembrance Sunday. On Saturday, veterans will be joined by the Duke of York - who was a helicopter pilot during the conflict - for a service in the islands' cathedral. Then on Sunday, the islanders will be holding their own service to remember those who fell and were wounded liberating the islands.
During their visit, veterans will also plant trees with island children in memory of those who died. Throughout the visit, a team of BBC correspondents, using the latest internet technology, will be reporting on their pilgrimage day-by-day. The BBC correspondents will be using satellite telephones to send back radio material, and a new technology, Telestream, to email pictures back to London. During their visit, some of the Falklands' veterans will take part in a question-and-answer session with BBC News Online. If you have a question you would like to put to them, send it in using the form below.
