Detectives are investigating the possibility that the Llanishen High School pupil was being bullied, although they have said they had no evidence to support that claim.

Laura parents have appealed to their daughter's school friends for any information which might explain her death.

George and Penny Kilibarda have met the school's head, Alan Boxford, to discuss bullying.

Mr Boxford has paid tribute to the pupil, saying there seemed to be "no real problems".

The service for the Year 8 pupil took place on Tuesday morning at St Denys Parish Church in Lisvane.

Laura's body was found in her bedroom at the family's home in Lisvane shortly after 1800 BST just two days before she was due to return to school for the summer term.

Two hours earlier she had returned from a walk with the family dog.

Although she was said to be doing well at school, police described her as an "unhappy and troubled girl".

In their statement issued through police Mr and Mrs Kilibarda described Laura as a "warm, kind, affectionate and fun-loving person....who valued her privacy."

They appealed for school friends to come forward for any information which might help the police enquiry.

Following the tragedy, the children's charity NSPCC Cyrmu issued a reminder to parents and children in Wales that they are there to help.

The charity has a dedicated free, bilingual helpline in Wales for all children and those that think children are at risk.

Instead of phoning, youngsters can even email or text to get help and advice.

Laura's school has also recently been given �10,000 to set up a buddy support scheme - under which older Year 10 and 11 pupils "befriend" youngsters and offer advice and support on a regular basis.

The buddies will also work closely with Childline which will train the buddies in effective listening skills.

An inquest into Laura's death has been opened and adjourned.
