Owen leaves his mark on fan

Michael Owen has pride of place with Kevin Jones
A football crazy man from north Wales has one of his favourite players under his skin.

Kevin Jones, from Wrexham, has had the autograph of the 22-year-old Liverpool striker, Michael Owen, tattooed onto his leg.

Kevin Jones is a lifelong fan of Liverpool

The 24-year-old cornered the England captain as he trained with his team mates ahead of their international match against Paraguay.

He asked Owen to sign his leg when he was being put through his paces at The Racecourse - the home of Wrexham Football Club.

Mr Jones admits Owen was taken aback by his request.

"I asked him to sign it and he looked at me a bit daft but he did and I went straight away to get it tattooed on," he said.

"Teddy Sheringham was standing by him when I asked and they both started laughing."

Next target

The lifelong Liverpool fan said his wife and friends thought he was crazy but he is adamant that he will keep the three-inch autograph for life.

"I won't get rid of it even if he goes and plays for another club, he's done a lot for Liverpool and he's a local lad, living in Hawarden."

Mr Jones already had four tattoos but admits he may have found a new hobby.

"Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard's my next target," he said.
