Stadium 'jinxed' by press box
Paul Darby
Paul Darby performed the feng shui ceremony
The expert called in to try to break a jinx on a dressing room in Cardiff's Millennium Stadium's with feng shui has blamed the media for the bad vibes.

Paul Darby carried out a traditional blessing according to the Chinese art at the stadium's south dressing room on Tuesday.

Paul Darby: Fans must wear bright colours and chant

The stadium's management asked for his help after eight successive defeats in major football finals for the teams who used the dressing room.

Cambridge are due to play Blackpool this weekend in the final of the LDV Vans trophy and they have been allotted the ill-fated dressing room.

Mr Darby from Nottingham agreed to carry out the feng shui blessing, saying he wanted to offer the southern team a level playing field.

After spending several hours blessing the room, the 52-year-old said he had discovered what the source of the problem was.

"We actually found there was a big problem with the dressing room because of the press room.

"All the cables and lights in the interview room are affecting the energy of the dressing room.

What we are doing is asking the Cambridge fans to wear bright colours - reds and purples - and to chant loudly as well

Paul Darby

Mr Darby said the long term answer was to paint the walls with a bright colour to act as a protection.

His immediate solution was to give the room a feng shui blessing - ringing a bell, carrying incense sticks and throwing sea salt - "just to zing up the energy".

The Millennium Stadium decided to seek out the services of an expert in the Chinese art of positioning after the run of eight defeats - including the likes of Arsenal and Birmingham City.

However, both the stadium and the Football League have stressed they do not believe there is a voodoo hovering over the ground.

The stadium has temporarily replaced Wembley as the home of English football, hosting the FA Cup and Worthington Finals among others.

As well as being the home of Welsh rugby, it also has become a favoured concert venue for pop stars like the Stereophonics and the Manic Street Preachers.

During his trip to the stadium, Mr Darby was also asked to investigate the south stand which has come to accommodate armies of losing fans.

He also discovered the source of the negative energy there.

"The south stand has got a railway line and the station behind it.

"It has also got the Bristol Channel - things which I cannot move".

To counteract that static energy, Mr Darby had a special plea for the Cambridge fans.

"What we are doing is asking the Cambridge fans to wear bright colours - reds and purples - and to chant loudly as well."
