It is hoped it will improve recruitment within the force - with an online application from available for potential new police officers.

Feedback so far has been positive, with two local schools giving the scheme the thumbs up.

Pupils from Hawarden High School and Ysgol Dinas Bran in Llangollen were given a sneak preview of the site.

Superintendent Paul Davies said they were impressed: "Their overall impression of the website was extremely positive."

He added: "The new website is the first phase of the project

"Therefore, the input and ideas of the pupils will be used as part of the next development phase."

A dedicated section for youngsters called 'Off the Beat' has been included on the site.

The section provides information about a number of issues, from the dangers of substance misuse through to staying safe whilst roller skating.

"Part of our investment in technology will see the launch of this new site with particular emphasis on the community," he said.

Mr O'Donell added: "This will give members of the community 24 hour access to North Wales Police."

The force has said the new site will be kept up to date with the latest information and will be continually monitored.

North Wales Police believe their new initiative is totally different to similar sites within the police force in Wales.

Members of the public have been encouraged to give their opinions on the site so it can be developed further.
