River Dee on flood watch
Floods
Flooding has caused problems in recent years
Flood watches are continuing across north east Wales, following heavy rain throughout Sunday.

The Environment Agency Wales has issued a flood warning on the lower Dee from Llangollen to Chester, including Bangor-on-Dee.

Officials are currently monitoring the situation and updates will be issued.

There are no warnings or watches in place on the Rivers Clwyd or Alyn.

At Bangor-on-Dee - the scene of widespread flooding in recent years - a warning has been in place since 1600 on Sunday - because river levels have not decreased significantly.

Homes at risk

A flood warning has also been issued on the north coast of Wales from the Dee estuary to the east coast of Anglesey due to high winds.

In September 2001, Environment Agency Wales warned that up to 120,000 homes on the Welsh coastline could be at risk of floods if there was a repeat of the previous year's heavy rain.

Research by the Environment Agency shows that up to half the people living in flood-prone areas are oblivious to the risk and only one person in 10 takes any action to prepare.

For more local flood watch information, contact Environment Agency Wales's information line on 0845 9881188.

Updates are also available on the agency's floodwatch website at: http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/subjects/flood/floodwarning/
