| Tuesday, 1 January, 2002, 15:17 GMT Church's lawyers shut 'sexual' website ![]() Church winning a Classical Brit award in 2000 A website making lewd suggestions about schoolgirl singer Charlotte Church has been closed down after legal action. Her record company called in the lawyers to shut the internet site after calls from fans of the 15-year-old singer who were angered by its sexual content.
Alex Cowan, a spokesman for her record company Sony, said: "We are aware of the site and we looked at our legal options. "It was put in the hands of our legal team - we do all we can to protect Charlotte." Charlotte - reputed to be worth more than 12m since shooting to stardom as a schoolgirl soprano when she was just 11 - has sung all over the world and sold millions of albums. More recently her fans have seen her turn from a fresh-faced schoolgirl into a young woman seeking a more sophisticated persona. But she has denied trying to vamp up her image with figure-hugging dresses and make-up.
She said: "I'm not trying to look sexier - I'm just growing up you know." Charlotte, who lives with her parents in a seven-bedroom luxury house in Cardiff, south Wales, admits to having "three or four" boyfriends in the past - but "nothing too heavy." She split up with latest sweetheart Max Hoare, 17, a few months ago after saying she was too young to have a serious boyfriend. Fans found the website while searching for information about Charlotte's blossoming career. Keen opera buff Mark Adams, 38, said: "It's very nasty. She's still a schoolgirl and should be treated like one despite being famous." | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Wales stories now: Links to more Wales stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
