The construction work on the A542, Horseshoe Pass in Llangollen follows its partial collapse after a mudslide in November 2000. It has cost around 750,000 to secure the existing slip face, rebuild the road and to erect a large concrete retaining wall. The collapse of the road followed weeks of torrential rain in the area which flooded out homes and businesses across north Wales. ![]() An eight foot mud slide cascasded down the hill in November 2000 ![]() Part of the road has been cordoned off since the landslide ![]() The road is used as a direct link to Llangollen ![]() Llangollen is a small town and relies heavily on tourism ![]() The River Dee reached critical levels during the floods ![]() The Britannia Inn cost over 200, 000 to repair | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Wales stories now: Links to more Wales stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||
