Picture gallery: Brymbo steelworks
Preparations are under way to regenerate the former Brymbo steelworks site which closed over a decade ago.

It is hoped the plans to build new houses, business premises and recreational facilities on the 240 acre site will breathe new life into the surrounding villages.

Since the closure of the steelworks in 1990 the area has fallen into decline. Many local people claim that the younger generation have moved out in a bid to improve the quality of their lives.

Over a 1,000 workers were made redundant when the plant was abandoned.

However the owners of the site - Brymbo Development Ltd - claim the redevelopment could create up to 1,000 jobs.
