Lorry shooting suspect description
Lorry involved in a shooting in north Wales
The lorry was shot as he drove from Holyhead on the A55
North Wales Police have released a description of one of the two men wanted for questioning in connection with the shooting of a lorry driver on the A55 last Tuesday.

The man is described as 6ft tall, in his early to mid 30s, with light brown hair.

The lorry driver has been released from hospital and is recovering from his injuries.
photofit, A55 shooting
Police have issued a photofit of the man being sought

Detectives investigating the shoot on Anglesey believe it was a pre-planned robbery which went wrong.

The attack happened on the eastbound carriageway of the A55 near Bryngwran on Anglesey on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old driver - who has not been named - had apparently pulled over after being flagged down by two men in a light coloured car on the A55 in Anglesey.

A major incident room has now been set for officers in Caernarfon to investigate the attack which happened at 13:55 BST on Tuesday.

"This man could well have been killed. Its only luck that determined he was not killed," said Superintendent Geraint Williams.

The driver remains at a specialist burns unit at Whiston Hospital on Merseyside, recovering from serious injuries.

He is said to be lucky to be alive.

Forensic officers will continue with their fingertip search of the scene on Wednesday in the hope of finding any clues.
TNT lorry
The company TNT say they are shocked

Officers say they are still unaware of any motive for the attack and are keeping all options open.

It is believed that the driver of the TNT lorry - which had just come off a ferry at Hollyhead - had been encouraged to pull over after a light coloured Vauxhall Vectra or Cavalier flashed its lights.

Shotgun

Two men then apparently got out of the car and asked the driver what he was carrying.

He told them that he was transporting clothing before one of the men pulled out a shotgun and fired from point blank range into the driver's arm.

The driver then managed to call to his boss in Ireland on his mobile. He then rang the police.

The company said they were shocked at what has happened. They have brought in their own security team to assist the police.

Incident room

The police have opened an incident room in the Western Divisional Headquarters in Caernarfon.

The men involved in the incident have been described as around 5ft 10in, with goatee beards and white t-shirts.

Anyone with any information should contact police on 01286 673333.
