| Tuesday, 31 July, 2001, 20:06 GMT 21:06 UK Historic lighthouse for sale ![]() There are breathtaking views from the lighthouse If you've got over �800,000 to spare there is just the property for you to buy in north Wales. John Callin bought the historic lighthouse on Llandudno's Great Orme 15 years ago, converting it into a guest house. Now he's put it up for sale at a price of �825,000. For 130 years, its huge light guided mariners across Liverpool Bay.
Finally decommissioned in 1985, businessman John Callin bought it, turning it into a unique bed and breakfast house. But now he's selling up. Inside there are two houses for the principal and assistant keeper. But how much of the old place they'd recognise now is debateable. The property has been recognised by Cadw and listed as a Grade II building because of its architectural and historical importance. Surrounding the lighthouse is a country park and nature reserve with unique species of plants and butterflies, rare birds and abundant wildlife. |
