Part-Ex the Jack Russell has joined owner John-Paul Eatock, 30, on many adventures, earning him a unique distinction. The six-year-old dog first ventured into the world of extreme sports at 18 months of age, climbing onto the back of John-Paul's surfboard as he headed out to sea. From that point on, he has become known as a real action dog, taking part in kayaking, rock jumping, wind surfing and coasteering - the pasttime of following the coastline and jumping into the sea when the path runs out.
His exploits have put him in the millennium edition of the Guinness Book of Records. The pair have become celebrities in St David's, Pembrokeshire, and Part-Ex is set to get his own extreme website. "I was surprised when he first joined me on the surfboard," said John-Paul. "He does not like being left alone. If I do go out on big stuff, he does not have to go."
He added: "My friends and the local children really like Part-Ex. When it comes down to basics, he is quite happy curling up on the couch with me." Part-Ex will be back in action again on 14 August, when he joins John-Paul in a two-man kayak from Rosslare in southern Ireland to White Sands, Pembrokeshire - a distance of 44-miles across the sea. He will also be taking to the skies soon for his first parachute jump. |
