Father warns of "lethal" ecstasy
Ecstasy tablets
Ms Lloyd might have taken a tablet from a rogue batch
A father has warned about the "lethal" dangers of ecstasy following the death of his teenage daughter who is believed to have taken a contaminated tablet.

Mother-of-two Kim Lloyd, 18, from Pontycymmer near Bridgend in south Wales, collapsed soon after taking the drug during a night out.

We just don't want anybody else to suffer like we are

She was taken to Bridgend's Princess of Wales Hospital where she died on Sunday.

Her 40-year-old father Kevin Lloyd made an emotional appeal after explaining how his two grandchildren were now left without a mother.

"We just don't want anybody else to suffer like we are - these tablets are lethal," he said.

"We want youngsters to be aware that these pills are out there and how dangerous they are.

"I want them to see what it has done to our family. We have lost our daughter.

"I have got nothing but anger for the people who supplied her with the tablet - they have destroyed our lives."

Mr Lloyd said his daughter doted on her two children - Carwyn, three and 18-month-old Kieron.

"She was a loving mother and daughter and we are devastated. We just don't want anybody else to suffer like we are - these tablets are lethal."

South Wales Police have informed Mid Glamorgan coroner Phillip Walters and a post mortem examination is due to be held.

A police spokesman confirmed that officers were investigating the possibility that Ms Lloyd had taken a contaminated tablet.

"We again warn the public of the potential harmful effects of taking this drug, particularly when there is a possibility of contaminated drugs being in circulation," he added.

  • A 26-year-old man has appeared before Bridgend magistrates charged with supplying a class A drug.
