Falkirk-based bus firm Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) has said 94 jobs are to go at its Camelon Plant.

The company, the UK's biggest bus and coach builder, said last month that it expected to shed 150 UK jobs after a dramatic slowdown in the market.

The news will affect 65 bus builders and 29 office staff in Camelon. A 30-day consultation with trade unions has begun to determine which posts will go.

The remaining job cuts will be made at ADL plants in Yorkshire and Surrey.

About 960 staff are based at the company's plant in Camelon, Falkirk.

The firm, which employs about 2,200 globally, has manufacturing operations in Scarborough and Anston, Sheffield, where 650 staff are based, and at Guildford, in Surrey, which has 300 workers.

A spokesman for the firm said formal talks had begun on Tuesday with trade unions.

He said the job cuts were part of an on-going review into the slowing market and would take affect within the next month.
