The cases include attacks, vandalism and breach of bail conditions |
Police in Tayside have dealt with more than 200 cases related to domestic abuse over the past two weeks. The incidents include attacks, breach of bail conditions and vandalism. The force is taking part in a nation-wide campaign aimed at tackling domestic violence, which runs until 18 January. Det Ch Insp John Caughey warned that arrests would be made and prosecutions brought. He also wanted victims to know that there was support for them. Det Ch Insp Caughey added: "We are very specific in ensuring that where there is a domestic element in an incident, that it is recorded as domestic abuse, and while this low threshold provides a high return, it is still a matter that is a very real issue and one that needs focused attention. "Those committing domestic abuse are criminals and that is the manner in which they will be dealt with by police officers, make no mistake about that."
