The festival attracts thousands of music fans to Balado |
T in the Park has been named Festival of the Year at the Vodafone Live Music Awards ceremony. Organisers said the award, voted for by members of the public, was down to the "loyalty and dedication" of the festival's fans. The festival in Balado, Kinross-shire, was this year headlined by the Verve, Rage Against the Machine and REM. Scottish group Primal Scream received Best Live Act and Outstanding Contribution to Live Music. 'Phenomenal atmosphere' Festival Director Geoff Ellis said: "It's absolutely fantastic to round off such a spectacular 15th year in this way. To be recognised nationally, by the music fans themselves, as the 4Music Festival of the Year at such a prestigious event as the Vodafone Music Awards. "Without the loyalty and dedication of our fans, T in the Park would not be what it is today. "They've proven that they are the best that any festival could have and we are all thrilled by this recognition." George Kyle, from sponsors Tennent's, added: "This award truly recognises the incredible line-up presented at the 2008 T in the Park here in Scotland as well as the phenomenal atmosphere which both the fans and the artists continually reinforce as being the best in the UK. "We are so proud to round off our 15th year with such an enormously prestigious award."
