A 15-year-old boy was arrested for being drunk and incapable during a police crackdown on underage drinking in Dundee, it has been revealed.

Another was charged with having a knife and a third with breach of the peace.

Police also seized a record amount of alcohol during the latest stage of Operation Dry Up at the weekend.

They confiscated almost 95 litres of cider, more than 70 cans of lager or beer and six litres of spirits, along with Buckfast, alcopops and wine.

'Intelligence led'

Several youngsters were taken home to their parents, but police noted that three of them were back on the street within an hour.

The names of 56 young people were taken by officers patrolling the city on Friday and Saturday evening.

Ch Insp Kevin Lynch said: "Our Dry Up patrols allow us to give particular focus to areas where there have been issues before concerning youngsters involved in anti-social and alcohol-related behaviour.

"The operation is very much intelligence led and its success very much relies upon information from the public.

"The more we hear from the community, the more we can do to influence these types of issues."
