Hundreds of boy racers meet in Falkirk every month |
Boy racers are being warned that their cars could be seized if vehicle changes are not reported to insurers. The warning comes after officers at Central Scotland Police said 10 drivers with modified exhausts were stopped at Falkirk's monthly Cruise.
The event has become a well-known meeting point for cruisers and boy racers from across Scotland.
The force said that in future they will write to insurance companies reporting all cars stopped with modifications.
Insurers have the right to cancel policies if they have not been told of vehicle changes.
Sergeant Jim Allan, from the road policing unit, said: "We are actively aware of the antisocial behaviour issues surrounding noisy exhausts.
"While it is a difficult area to tackle, by doing this it will make young car owners think twice about carrying out modifications.
"If they have no insurance for their car it will ultimately result in it being seized."
