A crackdown by Tayside Police has seen 29 drivers caught not wearing a seatbelt and a further 26 speeding. The officers were taking part in a Scotland-wide day of action.
There was a particular focus on van drivers, with eight detected for not belting up for their journey, along with one passenger.
A further five van drivers were caught speeding. They were given a 60 pounds fine and told to expect three points to be added to their licence.
'Speed limits'
Chief Inspector Sandy Bowman said: "Despite extensive and ongoing publicity, we are still detecting drivers of light goods vehicles for speeding and failing to wear a seat belt.
"By design, light goods vehicles are generally larger and heavier than cars and may take longer to stop in an emergency. Accordingly, they are subject to reduced speed limits.
"The only ways of avoiding a fine and the associated penalties is to make sure you keep your speed down and put on your seat belt.
"Many people are killed and injured each year on our roads each year and the consequences of speeding and of not wearing a seat belt can be devastating. Please don't risk it."
