Part of the roof fell into the shallow end of the pool last month

Stirling Council said the future of the city's Rainbow Slides, build in 1975, would be decided next year.

Metal slats from the facility's roof fell into the water earlier this month as the pool was being used by swimmers. No one was injured in the incident.

The decision not to re-open the pool follows visits by structural engineers.

Other facilities within the leisure complex, including a gym and baby pool, have remained open.

Councillors will discuss a range of options on 24 January regarding the future of the pool.

Sports village

These include closing the entire facility permanently and transferring the gym to another site or maintaining the complex.

Councillor John Hendry, said: "It is disappointing that we are having to make a difficult decision about the future of Rainbow Slides.

"It is well known that the pool was reaching the end of its useful life, and that's why we decided to build the sports village at Forthbank as a replacement."
