 Kick-It Kick-Off provides pupils with three free books a year |
Dundee FC footballers have been urging young people across the city to get reading. They have been helping pupils at the Kick-It Kick-Off (KIKO) learning centre choose books to browse.
KIKO involves those who may need extra support at school and aims to encourage them to stay in education.
The scheme, which is a partnership between the council and the football club, sees participants receive three free books during the school year.
Young people who attend the learning centre are involved in various football and information technology courses, which are designed to enhance their personal and social development.
City council education convener Cllr Laurie Bidwell said: "Kick-It Kick-Off is a hugely impressive project that has given support to many young people in the city.
"This is a great way to improve literacy levels."
David MacKinnon, Dundee FC chief executive, said: "We are delighted to be involved in this ongoing partnership which has had real and positive outcomes over the past number of years."
