The project works on developing parents' play skills |
A scheme in Dundee which supports young families will be expanded after a 3,400 boost from the city council. The programme will employ a third nursery nurse specialising in working with young children.
The St Andrews Project helps parents aged under 21 to return to education, training or work by highlighting the wide range of support on offer.
Creche workers are also available to help with child care so that parents can take part in organised activities.
Kathryn Sidey of the St Andrews Project, which is based at St Andrews Parish Church in King Street, said: "We have 26 families registered with us and play sessions are usually attended by 10 to 14 families
"The new post will assist in supporting the other workers and volunteers who give help to the young families with a wide variety of issues that affect them."
She said the nursery nurse's post will help parents to enjoy activities with their children by developing play skills and other positive interaction.
