Woman evicted after drug claims

Neighbours complained about drugs being taken in the street
A problem neighbour has been kicked out of her home in Dundee after legal action by Tayside Police.

The force has obtained a three month closure notice against the 29-year-old woman and her daughter, aged four.

Officers were called out to her Hilltown flat 48 times in less than two years to deal with complaints about anti-social behaviour and drug abuse.

On one occasion, the wall of the common close was sprayed with blood from a hypodermic needle.

Residents also reported visitors openly taking drugs and being abusive in communal areas, which were left littered with drug-taking equipment.

Peace and quiet

Ch Supt Colin McCashey said: "The detrimental effect on the lives of other residents in the block has been unacceptable.

"Despite police intervention at an early stage and repeated warnings to the tenant, the situation has not been resolved and led us with no other option but to go for a closure order which has now been enforced.

"This will ensure that other residents in the area can live in the peace and quiet they deserve and to receive some respite for the next three months from the anti-social behaviour that has upset their lives for the best part of a year."

He added that the force would continue to work with representatives from Dundee City Council and housing associations to try and find a long-term solution.
