The sports village will be completed in 2009 |
The latest phase of a new 27m state-of-the-art sports development in Stirling has been unveiled. Stirling Council has released images of "The Peak", one of the main buildings in the sports village.
The project, near Stirling Albion's football ground, will offer swimming, climbing, cricket, curling, football and fitness facilities.
Work has already started on the site, with the first stage scheduled to open in November.
That will include football and rugby pitches, and an artificial hockey-pitch.
The swimming pool, ice rink, climbing wall, fitness suite and dance studio is due to open in 2009.

Councillor John Hendry, who has responsibility for community services in Stirling, said the sports village was a "fantastic investment".
He said: "The range of facilities that we will offer throughout the whole of the Sports Village will bring many families and communities together to enjoy, to engage in sport and well being activities.
"It will be fascinating watching the development of The Peak, the indoor gateway to the sports village as it emerges alongside such a fantastic landscape.
"We are very proud that we will be making this investment to enhance the provision of sport and physical activity in Stirling." Community services director Janice Hewitt said the city's sports facilities needed upgrading.
She said: "The Peak will be a tremendous facility that I'm sure many of our citizens will benefit from.
"Rainbow Slides has been a great facility for over 30 years but it is tired now and with this huge investment in sport and physical activity we hope many children will have many years of fun and enjoyment when we open our doors in 2009."
