 Voters left councillors with coalition talks |
The votes may be in but the decision over which parties will lead six councils in the Tayside and Central areas has yet to be taken. No one party polled enough votes to take overall control of Perth & Kinross, Angus, Dundee City, Stirling, Clackmannanshire and Falkirk Councils.
One of the surprise results was Stirling. The SNP increased its seats from just one to seven.
Meanwhile Labour lost three seats to retain just eight.
Elsewhere, the SNP failed to hold on to overall control of Angus, with 13 councillors spread across the eight multi-member wards.
Largest party
Falkirk's former SNP/Independent coalition could also change after Labour gained two seats to bring the total to 14 - just one more than the SNP's 13 seats.
Another coalition is also on the cards for Dundee City Council. The SNP gained seats to bring the total to 13 and remain the largest single party on the council but fell short of achieving a majority.
Meanwhile, Labour lost two seats in Clackmannanshire Council bringing its total down to eight while the SNP gained a seat bringing its total to seven. The Independents also won a seat on the council which they previously did not have.
The SNP held onto Perth & Kinross Council with 18 seats but again have no overall control when faced with the Conservatives 12 seats, Labour's three seats and the Lib Dems eight seats.
