Clackmannanshire agrees tax level
Clackmannanshire sign
The council is planning new schools for the county
Clackmannanshire Council has agreed a council tax increase of 1.9% for the year ahead, it has been confirmed.

The new level will bring an increase of 21 a year for someone with a property in the Band D bracket.

The increase includes funds set aside for the county's three new secondary schools, to be built through PPP.

Announcing the agreement, council leader Margaret Paterson said: "I am pleased that we have been able to keep council tax increases at a minimum."

Clackmannanshire said its spending would amount to more than 92m over the next year.

The council said it was also facing added costs, including additional contributions to police and fire and rescue services, and meeting equal pay legislation.

Councillors also agreed a 4.5% increase on council house rents, bringing rents to 49.30 a week.
